Vision To Learn has been awarded $1.4 million in FY26 Community-Initiated Project funding to expand access to vision care in rural regions across Oregon. The funding was secured by U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden as part of a broader federal investment in community-identified priorities across the state.
This investment will support program operations, a new mobile vision clinic, two portable exam lanes, and two 4×4 vehicles to transport clinical teams and equipment across six new counties in regions surrounding Eugene and Bend. These resources are critical to reaching students in areas where distance, terrain, and limited local providers often make access to care difficult.

With this expanded capacity, Vision To Learn will be able to serve students who might otherwise go without vision care entirely. An estimated 4,200 students each year will receive eye exams and glasses as a result of this funding.
This expansion strengthens Vision To Learn’s presence in Oregon and reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that where a child lives does not determine whether they can see clearly in school.
