In November 2015 Vision To Learn was named the inaugural recipient of The Rathmann Challenge, for our outstanding work in areas of education and health. Launched in 2014 by the Rathmann Family Foundation, the Rathmann Challenge sought programs with forward-thinking solutions to address problems in education. The $100,000 award was presented to Vision To Learn for our cost-effective and scalable model for providing free eye exams and free glasses to kids in low-income communities in California, Delaware and Hawaii.
“The 2015 Rathmann Challenge sought to identify and fund a nonprofit organization that addressed an issue interfering with PreK-12 students’ abilities to achieve in the classroom,” said Rick Rathmann, Executive Director of the Rathmann Family Foundation. “Vision To Learn is a proven solution addressing a basic need, with the capacity to grow and address a significant nationwide problem. We look forward to working with the outstanding team at Vision To Learn to help support their efforts on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of additional children still in need.”
