Vision To Learn Recognized in White House Ceremony

October 17, 2015

Vision To Learn was recognized October 15th in a White House ceremony with President Obama. As part of its celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics published a list of “Commitments to Action” made by organizations serving Hispanic youth, available online at www.ed.gov/HispanicInitiative. Vision To Learn was highlighted for its commitment to deliver free eye exams and glasses to over 9,000 Hispanic students in Los Angeles County’s San Gabriel Valley. Vision To Learn board members Wendy Carrillo (California) and Sally Gore (Delaware) attended on behalf of Vision To Learn.

This honor compliments recognition earlier this month, when the Initiative named Vision To Learn one of its 2015 “Bright Spots in Hispanic Education” for its prior work delivering services to Hispanic students. Vision To Learn has provided free eye exams and glasses to over 20,000 Hispanic students since its inception.
