Vision To Learn’s work doesn’t end when schools break for the summer months. For more than 10 years, supported by partnerships with dozens of Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the country, Vision To Learn has provided vision exams and glasses to thousands of kids attending camp during summer break.
In the last four years, VTL has provided services to more than 600 club sites, offered exams to nearly 12,000 club members and distributed more than 9,000 pairs of glasses.
Terry Johnson, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Portland Metropolitan Area says, “Our partnership with Vision to Learn has profoundly impacted youth at the Boys & Girls Club of Portland by directly addressing vision care, which is crucial for both learning and emotional health. A great example of the work they do is Jose, whose frequent emotional outbursts and academic struggles dramatically improved after he received glasses; his difficulties stemmed from simply not being able to see activity instructions clearly. Their team makes the experience easy and stress-free for our youth to get the care they need. Jose’s transformation powerfully illustrates how Vision to Learn’s support provides our youth with the fundamental ability to see, learn, and thrive, ultimately fostering their overall well-being.”
Funding for these services comes from local donors as well as national donors who believe in the partnership between Vision to Learn and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Thanks to this growing partnership, thousands of kids will be back in school ready to learn.
