Vision To Learn Donates Almost 100 Prescription Eye Glasses to Low-Income Students at Para Los Niños Elementary School

June 3, 2014

Child at Para Los Ninos receiving new glassesVision To Learn, a non-profit organization that provides free eye exams and glasses to children in low-income communities throughout California, donated almost one hundred glasses to students at Para Los Niños Elementary School. The school is administered by Para Los Niños, a nationally accredited, Los Angeles-based education and social services agency. Both organizations held a joint event at the school to celebrate the occasion.

Vision To Learn previously sent a team of trained optometrists and opticians in a state-of-the-art mobile clinic to administer free eye examinations to Para Los Niños students. The organization processed the examination results and constructed individualized prescription glasses for each student in need of optical help.

“Para Los Niños is an organization which makes a big difference in the lives of kids. We are honored to work with them to provide kids with glasses which will help them succeed in school and in life,” said Austin Beutner, Founder and Chairman of Vision To Learn.

“A student cannot properly learn if they cannot clearly see reading materials,” said Martine Singer, President and CEO of Para Los Niños. “We are excited and thankful to be collaborating with an organization like Vision to Learn who shares our mission in providing help to the many children of low income communities of Los Angeles.”

About Para Los Niños:

Since 1980, Para Los Niños has helped children and families succeed in school and life. Each year PLN serves 7,500 children and families at 13 sites in the most impoverished neighborhoods in Los Angeles. By combining school-day education with valuable life services, Para Los Niños gives children the opportunities to combat the achievement gap, escape poverty, and achieve success in school and in life. For more than 30 years, Para Los Niños has worked to close the achievement gap for children living in poverty, and we continue to invest in early education and prevention in order to lay the foundation for academic success. Today, Para Los Niños continues to respond to the ever-growing and ever-changing needs of Southern California’s most challenging communities. The organization’s proven approach helps to build stronger, more stable families and brighter futures for children. For more information on Para Los Niños visit www.paralosninos.org
